Tech Show London: the three themes that dominated this year’s event

Tech Show London is a staggering showcase of innovation in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and advanced data analytics and management.

It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in harnessing the latest business technology, hence our data team attended in force.

This year, three big themes generated all the buzz…

(Spoiler Alert! They’re all AI-related.)

1. The future of AI lies in custom-trained applications

The sense of FOMO was palpable as attendees swapped notes on their experiments in using AI to streamline everything from documentation to debugging.

But the clear consensus in business intelligence circles was that successful AI implementation demands a data-first approach, and a deep understanding of individual customer needs.

The current over-reliance on generalized solutions such as ChatGPT and Dall-E is falling short of expectations.

Instead, future transformations will be led by machine learning models trained on customer-specific datasets.

This approach will unlock the power of specialized reinforcement learning because AI systems aren’t ready out of the box. The message from the AI experts was: “don’t leave your robot alone after deployment.” They need brain training just like the rest of us.

2. How AI-enhanced personalization can surprise and delight customers

Throughout the event, speakers and exhibitors put the emphasis on using tailored solutions and storytelling to enhance customer experience. Personalization plays a critical role here and this is where AI chatbots can shine.

Especially their potential ability to provide individualized content and reporting that is:

  • Attention-grabbing

  • Emotionally resonant

  • Valuable

  • Actionable

The goal is to hit all four bases while providing the “five second topline view” that everybody wants.

And in those five seconds you must be able to solve or progress the problem in real time, and not just regurgitate the same information over and over again.

3. Purpose-built smart data warehousing unlocks truly accessible market intelligence

The ultimate payoff here is the business agility gained by integrating disparate data sources into a coherent source of truth.

But too many solutions suffer from the inefficiencies of legacy systems.

The intriguing message from the show was - that as AI changes the game - purpose built solutions utilizing the latest technology have a distinct advantage.

And thanks to recent developments, the cost to develop bespoke data management platforms has been drastically reduced.

That will mean (a) more innovation as new competitors enter the data management marketplace and (b) companies can now truly embrace the mantra "begin with the end in mind," when choosing between products.

The upshot

Tech Show London served as a powerful reminder that while adopting AI is essential to business survival, it’s how you utilize it that will determine business success.

The three main themes: custom-trained AI, enhanced personalization, and purpose-built data management are all incorporated into our Intelligence Engine market intel platform. Our experience at the show only reinforced our commitment to double-down on these elements as we develop our solution in collaboration with our industry partners and clients.
