Building a brand that speaks the language of creators

Venerable music hardware and software maker Steinberg tasked us with naming, branding and creating videos for a new mixer for creators. Say hello to MixKey

When Steinberg first came to us, they had something exciting in the works: a audio mixing app that would make live streaming sound great without needing a sound engineer or a rack of gear. The idea was simple: take Steinberg’s pro studio-grade audio expertise, and make it accessible to everyone.

What they needed next was a brand for this new tool that would appeal to an audience of streamers and creators.

This was our “shortlist” of names organized by theme

Together with the Hamburg based Steinberg team, we went deep into words and ideas, found a name, and built out the brand’s foundations: what it stands for, how it speaks, and what kind of energy it brings into the world.

Our research team then jumped into action, assembling and testing a variety of names and logos so we had more than just our gut feelings to work with.

From there, we shaped everything that gives a brand its personality:

  • A bold neon-meets-midnight look that feels accessible and right at home in the world of streaming creators

  • A clear, friendly tone of voice that sounds like someone who knows their stuff but never talks down to you

  • A website design and structure that can grow with the product

  • Messaging that focuses on what matters: helping people sound great and connect with their audience

  • Videos and media assets that reflect everything the brand stands for

The whole thing came together as a toolkit Steinberg can use to launch MixKey into the world, from logo to copy, from colour to community tone.

For us, it was a real joy to help bring a piece of Steinberg’s pro-audio heritage into a space that’s all about creativity, personality, and self-expression.
